I'm not sure if it's worth the bother of posting here to DA, but it's over on Furaffinity if anybody's interested in reading it.
I've been on Deviantart for 17 years now. This used to be my favorite site. I check it more than once a day. I've made a lot of friends over those years. I even served a term as a Community Volunteer. And it's very obvious to me that this site is not what it used to be. And I'm not even talking about the new UI.
But dust in the wind. Everything has its day and that day must end some time. I think it was a huge mistake to hide/remove the features that encouraged community engagement, like the footer that displayed popular journals, polls, and Daily Deviations, because all that served to just hasten the end. (Do new members even know we this site has a forum? Do they even know what a DD is?)
I don't even care that I hardly get any faves/comments on my stuff any more, because I was never Mr. Popular around here anyway. This site is dead for lit and I've given up on posting any of that. I mostly just post a few cosplay pics now and then out of a sense of ingrained habit.
But this week I learned they've been awarding Daily Deviations to AI pictures. It doesn't even deserve to be called art. I could understand DA not wanting to ban it. Something like that would obviously be impossible to enforce because they can't even keep at the bot ads and porn out. But to feature AI pictures? Hell no to that!
The only thing that keeps me still logging in is, again, 17 years of ingrained habit. I have obsessive-compulsive tendencies and a hard time walking away from something. But I don't think I want to post anything else on here.
It's been a wild ride on DeviantArt. Shame that it had to end up this way.
If anyone wants to keep in touch with me some other way, I've got my other socials on my profile and you can DM me if you want to know my Discord and Telegram.
Yesterday I discovered the Well uh picture of Sammy has become a meme on Twitter. It's kinda surreal. But hey if it attracts new readers, I'm not gonna complain!
But as an experiment I decided to try setting up a Discord server for readers of the series, to see who shows up. Maybe we'll make some new friends! https://discord.gg/FqpqJBajF5
Well today is your lucky day (and mine, too). At my request, Taran Fiddler posted the popular piece he did for me in his shop. And right now he's running a sale, to boot!
Happy 15th anniversary to my very first Mosaic. I'm still super proud of this piece.
Fifteen years... wow.
